I painted "Desert Solace" right after coming back from a trip to Arizona. I fell in love with the desert and had this vision during the trip; I was dying to paint it and got out my paints as soon as I got home.

These two paintings are a kind of series of landscapes of Crimea. My grandmother is Crimean, so I painted these two to honor her homeland, and it's hard not to be inspired by Crimea's beautiful scenery!
